China’s best kept Royal Garden – YiHeYuan Summer Palace

Built in 1750 and rebuilt in 1886, the Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) is Empress Dowager Cixi‘s favourite royal garden. The palace is a vast imperial garden in Beijing. Today you can reach the Summer Palace by taking subway line 4 to the Yiheyuan stop and walking from there. 颐和园是中国现存规模最大、保存最完整的皇家园林。在昆明湖东岸有一个被喻为牛郎化身的镇水铜牛,在西岸有一处被喻为织女化身的耕织图,它们隔着昆明湖遥遥相望。

Searching for Tiny fairies at Seven Small Arches

The scenic area of Seven Small Arches (aka Xiaoqikong) has peculiar land-forms, magnificent peaks with crystal-clear springs and streams. The park is huge with virgin forests, limestone caves and twin lakes. The most remarkable section is the small seven-arched bridge spans across the river. Mandarin ducks are merrily swimming in pairs around the twin lakes.
