You may serve with fresh fruit, honey, chocolate spread or the traditional way, with maple syrup. This recipe is less sugar for health conscious. If you prefer sweeter batter, please increase the sugar amount.

Less-sugar traditional pancake for healthy living

Traditional English Pancake

Ingredients

  • 120g cake flour
  • 80g bread flour
  • 350ml warm water (To create pandan-flavoured, 200ml freshly blend Pandan juice + 100ml warm water)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)

Steps to make it

01 Beat the egg lightly

02 Add in warm water. Mix well.

03 Sieve the flours. Add in the flour mixture. Mix well.

04 Mix in milk powder. Beat well until you obtain a smooth and lump-free mixture.

05 Add in brown sugar. Beat well until you have a smooth and thick batter. Leave the batter to rest for 15 minutes.

06 Lightly grease the pancake pan or frying pan with two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Heat until very hot, then turn the heat to lower. Then add a ladle-full of batter and evenly coat the base of the pan. Cook until set and lightly golden.

07 Flip the pancake with a spatula for another minute. Put it on a plate and continue cooking until all the batter is used up. Serve and enjoy!
