How to make healthy digestive biscuits

I modified the original recipe to make these healthy digestive biscuits. The taste is close to factory-made. I keep this recipe without the need for eggs. The biscuits are softer.

Healthy digestive biscuits

Ingredients

  • 100g wholemeal flour
  • 60g cake flour
  • 70g organic rolled oats
  • 5 Tbsp fresh milk
  • 72g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 40g brown sugar

Baking instructions

01 Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

02 Put wholemeal flour and cake flour in a large bowl. Cut in butter and let it melt at room temperature. Then mix them until they resemble a coarse meal.

03 Mix in oats, sugar and baking powder. Mix them well. It is best to use your hands to mix.

04 Add milk a spoon at a time into the dry ingredients. Mix them until a dough forms.

05 Shape the dough into medium balls. Flatten the biscuits to 5mm thickness.

06 Bake for 15 minutes. Remove the biscuits from the oven. Let them cool on a wire rack.

07 I managed to get a jar of 36 pieces. A few friends asked if it was worth the effort to bake ourselves. The cost breakdown is as follows. You decide yourself.

  • Wholemeal flour 1KG – RM3.80
  • Cake flour 1KG – RM2.70
  • Eche Boter unsalted butter 250g – RM7.50
  • Brown sugar 1KG – RM5
